DeepSeek to Reveal New AI Model Trained on Nvidia Blackwell Chips Routed Illicitly Into China

China-based AI company DeepSeek is preparing to launch a new model that was trained on Nvidia Blackwell-series GPUs moved into the country through unauthorized channels.

The company obtained Blackwell hardware that had been installed in data centers outside China. According to early information, the GPUs were removed from those facilities and transported into China, sidestepping U.S. export rules that restrict domestic firms from accessing Nvidia’s most advanced chips.

It remains unclear how many units were involved or where the original data centers were located. DeepSeek used the imported GPUs to train the model it plans to introduce next.
